We all love a good glow up, and the transition from winter to spring is no exception. May showers bring April flowers, and when we set our eyes on the Easter holiday we wanted that cool brisk feeling to bloom into the light and fresh pastels we all think of for Easter. When planning our table, we leaned into a Low Country–inspired tablescape; soft blues and greens, lush hydrangeas, layered floral plates, and a table that felt welcoming, relaxed, and full of spring. The kind of table that invites people to sit, linger, and stay awhile.
The Color Story
Blues and greens set the calm, collected tone from the start and choosing hydrangeas as our florals added depth and texture while grounding the table. Pairing them with soft greenery brought that Low Country ease that feels both coastal and garden-inspired. You could always go with pinks and yellows, or any of the happy colors we associate with spring time. We’d suggest picking 2-3 colors max to weave throughout your tablescape.
Layering with Intention
Low Country style is as much about how a table feels as how it looks. Floral plates layered over flower shaped chargers instantly added interest and personality. Mixing patterns kept the table from feeling too formal, while staying within the same color family kept it cohesive. This kind of layering makes a table feel thoughtful without needing anything trendy or themed. Additional pieces on the table were kept low so conversation could flow easily. Florals did not block sightlines. Place settings felt generous but not crowded. The goal was comfort; a table that felt beautiful, but also approachable enough that guests could interact with it comfortably.
Bringing It All Together
Your Easter tablescape does not need to be elaborate to feel special. When you choose pieces you love and let them work together naturally, the table does the rest. Feel free to go wherever your own inspiration takes you, and seek out opportunities to share your own personality and preferences with your guests. That’s where you’ll find the joy in gathering.
Buffet Styling
Hosting a group for any major holiday can be a bit overwhelming. A thoughtfully styled buffet is a great option to keep your event flowing smoothly and keep you enjoying your guests instead of managing the table.
Start with the Plates
Begin your buffet with the plates and work your way down the table. Plates first, then food, and finish with napkins and utensils at the end. That way guests can fill their plates comfortably without juggling napkins and silverware while serving themselves. This small detail makes a big difference.
Create Interest with Height
A flat buffet can feel crowded very quickly, or monotonous as one walks down the row. Varying the height of your serving pieces instantly makes the table feel more intentional and gives you more usable space. You can easily create risers with things you already have, like sturdy boxes hidden under a cloth napkin, stacks of books, a pedestal plate, or even a bowl turned upside down.
Make Room to Move
Spacing matters just as much as styling. Give each dish a little breathing room so guests are not bumping elbows or reaching over one another. When the buffet feels open, people naturally move through it with ease.
Plan Ahead and Preset
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to pre-set the buffet before guests arrive. Place your serving dishes, utensils, and napkins where they will go ahead of time. When the food is ready, you are simply filling in the blanks instead of scrambling to find pieces or open spaces at the last minute. It takes the stress out of that final rush and makes everything feel more manageable.
The Takeaway
A well-styled Easter buffet is all about flow, function, and a few thoughtful choices that make hosting easier. When the buffet works, the gathering does too. That is the joy in gathering.
